Decision guide

Is It Worth Applying?

You meet the criteria and can wait

Apply. The inspection is free and carries no obligation. Apply early in the window—

funding is first-come, first-served.

You missed the window, or the queue is long

Check what's already documented on your

file first. Some credits can be proven with a

permit rather than an inspector.

You don't meet the criteria

will find before you book.

FAQs

Common Questions

Does the free inspection obligate me to apply for a grant?

No. You can take the inspection and use the resulting form with your insurer without ever applying

for funding.

How long does the process take?

Timelines vary by cycle and demand. Inspections are generally scheduled well ahead of any grant decision, and grant queues have run long in past cycles.

Can I use my own contractor?

Grant-funded work must be performed by a contractor approved through the program. Verify

current requirements before signing anything.

What if I already had a wind mitigation inspection?

A form is generally valid up to five years if the structure hasn't changed. If yours is older, or your upgrades came after it, a new one is worth pursuing.

Is it worth applying if I already have impact windows?

Possibly. Opening protection is graded on the weakest opening — one unprotected door or

skylight can hold back the whole credit.
